Here, in the Bernese Oberland region, not far from Kandersteg, is where Passionnément’Vin loves to come to recharge, find new inspiration, and refill on energy.

Nature Park & Blausee (887m altitude)

Blausee is the name of a picturesque lake located in the Kander Valley, a well-known and high-quality tourist destination in Switzerland (about 1h30 from the Vaud Riviera). The name Blausee translates to blue lake in French, which is perfectly fitting given the striking clarity and deep blue color of its waters. The lake is relatively small, with a surface area of about 0.64 hectares, and is surrounded by lush forests and stunning alpine landscapes.

But do you know everything hidden behind this haven of peace? Passionnément’Vin is eager to share it with you...

The uniqueness of Blausee in Switzerland lies mainly in the exceptional color of its waters. The name Blausee means blue lake in German, and this lake is famous for its deep, crystal-clear blue water. This color results from a combination of several factors:

  • Dissolved minerals: Blausee contains a large amount of dissolved minerals, notably limestone. Mineral-rich waters tend to reflect light in a way that gives the lake its intense blue hue.

  • Spring water: The lake is fed by underground springs, meaning its water is constantly renewed and remains clear. Groundwater is naturally filtered, helping to maintain its purity.

  • Low suspended matter: The lake generally has very little suspended matter, allowing light to penetrate deeply and reveal its blue color.

  • Preserved natural environment: Blausee is located in the heart of an alpine forest, creating a pristine natural setting that adds to its charm and beauty.

The Legend of Blausee

Sculpture by Raffaele FuchsStatue: "It's Time to Stand Up!" – Blausee, Switzerland

The following text is inscribed on a plaque on the bridge above the statue:

In memory of the legend of the Blue Lake (Blausee) the artist and sculptor Raphael Fuchs carved a statue of the beautiful young girl who was found dead in this lake many years ago. This was the place where she used to spend many romantic hours with her lover. After his sudden death, which she couldn't come to terms with, she continued to return to the Blue Lake every night until she eventually died of grief herself. The blueness of the lake was apparently caused by her tears. She took sorrow and pain with her. But now it's time to forget the past and to welcome a new day. It's time to stand up!-
