A truly unique artistic style!

Discover the latest works by Lausanne-based artist Atid Ajda at Vincent, the renowned chocolatier and confectioner in Lutry, until April 30, 2023. An impressive exhibition, a magical atmosphere and expressive, colourful paintings… everything to delight art lovers!

A look back in pictures at her magnificent exhibition opening on April 13, 2023, which generated tremendous enthusiasm among the local community.

During this special evening, wines from Domaine des Chantailles were showcased, and rightly so! They pair beautifully not only with local cuisine but also with traditional specialities from Kosovo, Atid Ajda’s country of origin.

But what makes this artistic style so special?

Known as Neo-Impressionism, this artistic movement emerged in France towards the end of the 19th century. It is also closely associated with Pointillism, a distinctive painting technique used by artists of the movement.

Neo-Impressionist painters sought to explore the effects of colour by placing tiny dots of pure, unmixed pigments side by side rather than blending colours on a palette.

This technique, known as Divisionism, was developed by Georges Seurat, one of the movement’s most celebrated artists.

Atid Ajda has truly found her own distinctive artistic expression within this tradition. By painting circles with remarkable spontaneity and precision, she brings extraordinary depth and complexity to her canvases.

Neo-Impressionist artists were also strongly influenced by scientific theories of colour, particularly those developed by the French chemist Michel Eugène Chevreul.

They experimented with complementary colours to create striking contrasts and achieve maximum luminosity in their paintings.

A thoughtful, scientifically inspired approach to art that made Neo-Impressionism one of the pioneering avant-garde movements in Europe at the time.

Art that awakens emotions.

These paintings are best admired from a distance. Unlike traditional painting, where colours are mixed by the artist, here it is the viewer’s eye that blends them together, creating a harmonious visual experience.

Other renowned painters, including Camille Pissarro, Vincent van Gogh, Henri-Edmond Cross, Charles Angrand and Maximilien Luce, also embraced or drew inspiration from this artistic approach.

The Speech by Monik Faucherre

In a deeply moving speech, independent gallery owner Monik Faucherre announced that Atid Ajda’s works would be exhibited in the United States later in 2023.
